Deciding on Security Alarm Systems

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.47 PM

Hi, So basically I am looking to install an intruder alarm system in my 5 bedroom house with a company that has a good reputation and customer reviews. The house itself was renovated over a year ago. So far I have come across a company that caters for Texecom Premier Elite/Ricochet hybrid Security System. They say they can install all the necessary components but loose the monitoring subscription. So essentially no third party monitoring as that part I will recieve my self via phone notification. Also no maintenance fees to replace batteries etc..? Other companies such as amco, baites alarm offer maintainance and monitoring fees so im a little confused. Is any profressional installer out there able to explain this a bit better. I know there is all types of people out there working both as part of a company as well as self employed. Also is there any other types of alarm that can be recommended such as Pyronix Euro 46, Honeywell, Ajax etc. As part of home insurance does having an alarm also lower the annual premiums..? Any help, support and advice would be appreciated. Thank you Ali

Most of my customers don't go for remote monitoring for the very reasons you state. Of course there is the remote possibility that you are not able to immediately see and respond to an alarm notification such as driving. But these are rare. Most alarm systems are similar enough that it makes little difference in domestic properties. I have recently recommended Ajax external camera alarms with the usp being the alarm creates a perimeter around the property. Alerting to unusual activity and capturing a series of photographs to help eliminate false alerts, or assist in identifying perpetrators if necessary. Hope this helps.

Hi Ali, Yes the above mentioned alarm is Self monitored. Texecom and Pyronix Euro 46(Wired) and Pyronix Enforcer (Wireless) they both are the most demanded burglar alarm system Also they are Graded systems Grade 2 Class 2 for domestic house. Also I understand depends on the usage the battery needs replacing after 2.Years of both of the systems and depends on the contract but its normally charged. Regards Imran Khan

If you going for hybrid that mean there will be part wired, part wireless sensors. Obviously there will be maintenance on alarm itself and batteries will need replace depends of sensors, like door contacts will use more as door opens and close and etc. so that will cost you money. Texecom is good alarm system so definitely go for it. You can monitor it yourself or take company who will monitor it for you. If your insurance requires alarm then its should be installed by NSI or SSAIB registered installer/company. Also Pyronix , Ajax , Hikvision AX Pro is good alarms, so its depends of you and what you want from alarm, they all smart, all pet friendly and all have home automation options . Hope that helps.

Hi, in terms of monitoring a system installed within a residential property it really comes down to a few factors: - Insurance provider has stipulated a certain grade of system and the monitoring of said system. - The customer requires monitoring/response due to peace of mind or value of goods held within the property. The majority of my residential customers are happy and feel reassured that they can remote monitor their system, as an external siren has become more of an advertising point for the company who installed the system rather than alerting Neighbours or passers by to an issue. The question relating to the actual system really comes down to the company providing the system. You tend to find that all systems will offer the same outcome. But it really comes down to the installer, the training and time spent learning the systems they install. You find that a customer will get a better experience if they take the advise of the selected installer. Personally I specialise in Texecom and Ajax intruder systems. I have spent the last 20 years getting to know my trade and investing my time into knowing my products really well and providing a service that can deliver. I'm sure your selected supplier/installer will answer any questions you have if you raise any issues.
